Every mission has its own vector. We build hardware for the ones headed somewhere new.
Odd Vectors designs and builds flight hardware for missions from VLEO to GEO to the Moon and beyond.
Our expertise
Mechanisms: hold-down release, deployment and separation hardware.
Extreme environments: thermal and power hardware built to survive conditions like the lunar night.
Deployables: booms, antennas and arrays for small spacecraft.
Flight safety: launch inhibit and separation switches.
Our founder
Chris Esser has spent 15 years building flight and research hardware, from individual mechanisms to complete spacecraft.
As lead mechanical engineer on 5 flight missions (13 spacecraft), he developed hold-down release mechanisms, solar array drives and deployable antennas, all with 100% on-orbit success.
As principal systems engineer for Slingshot-1, a 12U CubeSat carrying 19 payloads, he led the technical team from kickoff through launch and on-orbit operations. He also led a CubeSat product line serving commercial, science and defense missions.
He went on to lead a 14-person team developing structures, mechanisms and propulsion for a 500 kg-class commercial lunar lander, and served as Director of Space Systems on a very low Earth orbit (VLEO) mission.
